Deerfield Farm Icelandics
Nestled in the heart of the Green Mountains......
Ringside Welcome to Deerfield Farm Icelandics!

We hope you enjoy your on-line visit to our farm as much as we enjoy living here. We were fortunate enough to stumble upon this 85+ acre estate several years ago. The rest is history. I knew we were in the right place when our Icelandics and family pets settled in here comfortably. We built a large barn, attached a 20 x 65 shed for the horses, built a huge heated tack room/lounge and fenced over 15 acres of pasture. Those were busy years! Now, we are beginning to be able to sit back at times and enjoy the Icelandic horses playing in the fields and exploring the woods throughout their pastures.

Deerfield Farm Icelandics, appropriately named by our children for the abundant deer and wildlife in our fields and apple trees, has been a dream come true. Not only did I get to live my dreams once, but twice. Without the support of my wonderful husband, Nicholas, my dreams would not be a reality. The later of my dreams was to raise Icelandic horses. My husband enticed me by saying, if we move to Lincoln you can have more horses. (Sometimes, I think he wishes he didn’t say that!)

My husband and friends tell me that they have never seen a woman so passionate and dedicated to Icelandic horses as I am. Although I love my family, I have to admit, that’s what makes me tick!

I fell in love with the breed several years ago but found them very expensive for the average horse lover. I set out to import horses at a much more reasonable cost, and am able to make it affordable for folks to buy their first Icelandic. Most of my customers are previous horse owners/riders, men and women of a mature age who are looking beyond competition and who just want to enjoy having an equine buddy to have at home and ride the trails. I’m willing to talk to anyone about Icelandics and share my knowledge of the breed whether they buy from me or not.

Along with my 15 yr old daughter, Kristen, son, Patrick, age 13 and husband Nicholas, we run the farm on a day-to-day basis. We have several local teenage girls who help on the farm and host some students from the local high school in their internship program.

All in all, equine and human alike, we are very happy here nestled on our little farm. We hope to see you sometime whether it be for a visit to our farm or out on the trails!

God bless,

Susan
