The horse of Deerfield Farm Icelandics
Gefjun fra Arbakka
Geffie is an 11 yr old mare imported from Iceland. She has been used in our lesson program and has been on several trail and road rides at our farm. She is a 5 gaited mare and exhibits no summer exema. Geffie has produced 3 foals in her lifetime and will be bred to Tjaldur again in 2006. She is of Kulkuosi origin.
Slydda fra Arbakka
Velvet (named for her smooth gaits) is a 10 yr old mare who was also breed on the Arbakka horse farm. She has been used for many years in lessons and is the first choice as an escort for novice riders both lesson and trail riding alike. She has produced one foal, Lila fra Deerfield Farm Icelandics, a bay who is 3 years old and is currently for sale. Slydda also has the very old Kulkuosi bloodlines.
Lila fra Deerfield Farm Icelandics
Lila is a sweet 3 yr old bay filly. She is 5 gaited and was born and raised on our farm. She is friendly, leads, ties, and is good for the farrier. She is in good health and her worming is up to date as well as all of the other horses. Her ground work will go forward the Spring of 2006. Also Kulkuosi bloodlines from her dam.
Droplaug fra Keldulandi
Droppy is a beautiful red and white pinto. She’s also 5 gaited. We purchased her in Iceland when she was two. Paid way too much money for her, but knew she was worth it. She has proven to be a good addition to our farm. She is 5 gaited and produced a beautiful black and white pinto filly out of Tjaldur. Princessa, Droplaug's daughter looks like her sire Tjaldur. Princessa was sold in 2005. Droplaug was trained on our farm and is 5 yrs. old. She will be bred this year back to Tjaldur.
Kristal from Singing Brook
Kristal is our newest addition. Turning 4 this year, she will be started under saddle by our trainers. She is very friendly, very, very, smart, and curious! She is a beautiful red chestnut with a double star and whorl. Kristal is big for her age, and if she fills out as we expect, will be a good horse for a larger rider.
We also have several other horses who are not Icelandics and who are owned by our daughter Kristen. The list includes a beautiful Morgan Sport horse, Wyatt (watch for him at the regional Morgan Shows), a senior Morgan Sport horse, Magnum (used very much for lessons) and a cute black Shetland Pony – Little Star. Many of our tiny riders begin on Little Star and move up to one of our other horses.
